It was a damp day and already getting dark when we arrived at the pub.  Epic was keen to get off and passed a map to Rear Admiral to lead the walkers who cut off two loops of the trail.  The walkers waited for CS to catch up with Poppy the dog before setting off to the right along the road.  When we got to a group of cottages where the path crossed the road we looked for a check but found nothing.  The runners had turned left from the pub and run on a loop up behind the pub before coming to the same cross roads.  Luckily the walkers had already turned off to the left and got nearly to the top of the 2nd field before the runners discovered the way.  They were quite a sorry sight staggering up to the junction with the road.  Noddy was particularly glad to see us as she had not realised that the walkers had taken a different route and had been doing brilliantly to keep up with the fast runners.  She joined the walkers as they walked on up the road.  The runners went off right for another loop before coming down the road from the opposite direction and turn off to the right.  The walkers probably took the wrong path but eventually found more flour and ended up back at the pub.  Here they waited, and waited as the runners had got into a spot of bother, running round in a big circle and recognising a large tree.  Epic was starting to twitch and tried using his phone for satellite guidance but the signal was not good in the woods and he kept calling them back as it kept changing its mind.  But they made it back to the pub and Call Girl was bubbling with excitement from a great trail.  Epic had named it the HOTY trail ie the Hash Of The Year but we re-named it The Magical Mystery Hash.
