Run 1201 - The Crown and Horns East Ilsley

A nice evening was spoilt by the first leg of the trail which was 1 mile up hill to the Ridgeway!  Everyone was totally shattered and declared a regroup. The views were splendid and the ground was dry as we worked our way round in a square, which seemed to go up on every side - rather like the old drawing of the never ending staircase.  Just when we thought we could run no more we turned the corner onto a bridleway and saw the walkers and the Hash beer stop!  Henry V had made Lamington cakes which are sponge, chocolate and coconut.  They were named after the man who managed to make stale cake edible by adding the two Cs.  She assured us she had not used stale cake.  It certainly tasted good and was washed down with a little alcohol.  What wonderful hares. From here we were pointed in the direction of home.  "Straight on and follow the flour then turn right" said A Cruel Joke.  It was down hill so we set off at a trot - once the legs started to move again that is.  Stopping on route always causes the older hashers a few problems.  Then came the confusion.  A junction.  From way back up the trail Henry V pointed us right but, when she got to the junction, she changed her mind.  Some of the front runners turned back, the others continued then doubled back on themselves down the next track and climbed the gate to get back on the trail. We continued down hill until we came into the village.
A lovely run, which certainly got the heart pumping.
In the pub Zorro was concerned because he had lost his keys.  B'Cider had found them but tricked him into turning round so she could put them in his pocket!
The Down Down vest went to Stiffy for bumping his car up the curb.  And he got the Green Shorts as well as he was the only person who upset the RA!
Oh yes, a very rude joke was told which involved hot lips but it could not be repeated for those of the company who missed it as Eric would not have approved.
