Run 1193 - The Coach Worlds End

Paddington joined the trail this week but failed to bring marmalade sandwiches.  She is a hasher who lives in Berkshire but Didcot hash were closer.

This trail was special because it marked Gnome Alone’s 10th anniversary run with Didcot Hash.  He remembered the first run well and it had been from the same pub.

I am afraid I have no idea where the trail ran and forgot to ask for a map.  My attention span doesn’t even last a couple of hours, let alone 10 years.  But we went up and down hills and through fields and after about an hour ended up in a car park where Gnome provided cake and fizzy.  It was getting cold but everyone wanted to finish the trail.  Ringer set off up the road and Lemony along a footpath in the same direction.  They were both called back and jogged down the road.  Rear Admiral appeared from a lane on the left so they thought they were going the right way until they reached the pub!  The rest of the runners had gone off on a big loop – RSB, Billy Whizz and Marie on a bigger loop than others as they couldn’t find their way out of the last field and did at least 3 laps – so the shortcutters installed themselves in the comfy chair under the window.  Noddy got bored so drew a rather unsavoury tattoo on CS’s upper arm.

When we were all gathered Ringer opened proceedings with Marie’s naming.  She had told one or two hashers that she took part in a naked bike ride for charity.  This led Ringer to think of Queen songs and went from Bicycle to Fat Bottom Girls (make the world go round) to The Magic Roundabout to Mr McHenry.  No, no-one else remembered that he is the human who appeared in the programme twice, either.

There were no shirts or shorts to give out as CS has them all in his closet!

A great run – thanks Gnome
