Run 1171 - The Red Lion Cholsey

Noddy had messaged on Facebook as she was worried she was at the wrong pub.  No, my dear, you were just an hour early!  What had happened? The checking was frenetic from the pub.  Weirdo set off like a train followed by Lemony, but going the wrong way. When the On was called Lemony tried to call him back but got no response so told Eric that Ian was still – along there.  “Who’s Ian?” came the reply.  Hmmm.  She realised her mistake and set off to find him.  Obviously the woolly hat had made him a little deaf. But they she marked the On Out the wrong way and had to correct it.

Lucky she did as Cabouse caught us up after a couple of turns.  “F..ing trains!”

Gnome Alone too every wrong trail there was!  At one point we all went the wrong way – but the hares had planned this – and we reached the railway bridge just as the Cholsey steam train went over.  The driver blew his whistle and we all waved.  The Railway Children all over again.  SUC wanted more toots !?!

At some point on the run CS disappeared into the foliage and came out carrying a rather full poo bag.  The problem is that he doesn’t have a dog.

Northern Soul looked lovely for the whole run as he was in the flowery yellow vest, and the green shorts!

On the railway bridge Gnome Alone found a broken guitar.  He gave us a tune and some of the ‘girls’ formed a backing group.  Oh, it was wonderful.  Noddy said she could play the triangle and then announced that she has bongos!

There were lots of contenders for the shirts.  Zorro led Northern Soul on a false trail through the rubbish tip.  He climbed up and up, encouraging NS onwards, only to tip on a piece of wood and through Northern Soul into the nettles.  He was absolutely covered in stings – well the green shorts are very short.  Pressganger was heard to announce “I’m a skier”  not sure what that was all about. Then there was Eric’s error at the start and Cabouse’s outburst.  Fancy blaming British Rail because he was late for the start.  Then there was Big Stiffy complaining about his back And SUC name dropping  “I used to live in Costa Rica”.

The final decisions were:  Noddy for entering, and completing, her first Park Run and Billy Whizz for being the only young person there.

The green shorts went to Big Stiffy.  I can’t remember why but there doesn’t have to be a reason!
