Run 1158 - The Plum Pudding Milton
After the previous week, a 7pm Prompt start had been agreed. Lots of hounds were champing at the bit but where was the hare? No-one cared so they set off. The trail went along the footpath through the churchyard then round the back of Milton Manor to the road bridge. It was about here that CS, our illustrious hare, caught up - looking rather the worse for wear.
We went across the style into the field, along the edge and then back towards the road and through the underpass, back up the other side of the road and left to Steventon. A circuit of the village green and a tour of the allotments followed before heading towards The Cherry Tree. Here we lost a lot of hashers who stopped to join the veteran club which was meeting there. Oh, I’m being corrected, they stopped to look at the veteran car club vehicles in the car park. Now I understand.
The trial led back down the lane, and back to Milton. Under the big tree by the pub CS served strawberries and cream – courtesy of the Co-op which was selling them off cheaply. Very nice they were too.
Then we adjourned to the hostelry where we took over the garden and ate chips.
The Yellow Shirt had a lot of potential homes again: Hutch for being unshaven, Mismatch for arriving in her new works white van, Zorro for taking photos during Hash Words, Mismatch again for running behind St Bernard so often, just to see his legs and writing on the paddle of rebuke.
The Green Shorts went to Hutch because he is laying the next trail and this will be his last for a few months because he, and Rubber Sole, are taking a gap year and going to Australia.
Mismatch awarded the paddle to Hutch too because she decided it had to be worn down the shorts.
