Run 1144 - The Red Lion Woodcote
A new must-have fashion accessory! Green shorts on pink ribbon. Henry V looked fabulous and didn’t have to go too near the crutch – still showing signs of stainage after 2 washes.
The trail went south before following the edge of the woods east. We then cut into the woods for a long stretch through the common wood to Cray’s Pond. Then towards Flint House before turning back to the north. After a wonderful run we got to the Hash View – of a building site. Northern Soul wanted to bring us all back down to earth with a bump!
We all missed the On Inn – oh, wait a moment, there wasn’t one! Northern Soul was worried that the locals would rub out flour in the village. But they had rubbed most of it out on the trail – that was his excuse for the lack of blobs and checks, any way.
Big Stiffy kept complaining of chafing and, to remove attention from himself (am I really typing that?) let it slip that Hotlips had told him a secret. He didn’t dear let on though.
In the car park there was a surfeit of cake. Pressganger had brought one, made by Pete, to celebrate her birthday. Wimpey had brought one because he had promised the week before, and the hares had made one too! So we decided against chips, which was just as well as the landlord wouldn’t give us time to think before switching off the fryer!
In the pub we all raised a glass to Epic Fail and his wife on the birth of their son – Piggy! (Note – He is now called Jake.)
Rubber Sole presented Dancing Queen with a Dancing Queen that she and Hutch had found in a tat shop on holiday.
Then words. The Down Down vest was awarded to Dingaling for having new shoes. No-one really noticed but he did whisper to his dad, the RA, that he thought he had got away with it. Will he never learn?
The Green shorts went to Rear Admiral.
